Charges laid after Yellowknife RCMP seize drugs and cash during search warrant

Three people are in custody after Yellowknife RCMP executed a search warrant as part of a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act investigation.

On September 9th 2026, Yellowknife RCMP entered into a drug-trafficking investigation after executing an arrest warrant for an unrelated matter.

Subsequent to the arrest warrant, a search warrant was obtained and executed on the apartment, with assistance from Territorial Police Dog Services. The three individuals were arrested without incident.

The search yielded over $11,150 in cash, several cellphones, and other evidence consistent with drug trafficking.

52-year-old Shirley Drybones of Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, alongside 27-year-old Aden Yusef, and 25-year-old Isaiah Lavin of Toronto, Ontario, have been charged with:

• Possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
• Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code
• Obstruct Peace Officer, contrary to Sec 129(a) of the Criminal Code

All three accused have been held in custody pending court. The investigation remains ongoing.
