Iqaluit woman charged with Second Degree Murder

On October 17, 2026, at approximately 5:50 a.m., the Iqaluit RCMP responded to a disturbance in the 2400 block of Iqaluit, Nunavut. Upon arrival, police located a 37-year-old female suffering from life threatening injuries. The victim was transported to the Qikiqtani General Hospital and despite life saving measures, the victim succumbed to her injuries. 

The Nunavut RCMP Major Crime Unit (MCU) took over the investigation and have charged Christie Nutarariaq (age 32) with: 

• Second Degree Murder, Section 235(1) C.C

Nutarariaq was taken before the Justice of the Peace and was remanded into custody. Her next court appearance is scheduled for November 17, 2026, in Iqaluit, Nunavut. 

As the matter is before the courts, no further information will be released.
