A 43-year-old man had his vehicle impounded by Baie Verte RCMP Thursday afternoon, after a traffic stop confirmed that he had no registration or insurance, and that he was driving while suspended.
Just before 5:00 p.m. on October 15, a Baie Verte RCMP officer conducting proactive patrols on Route 410 performed a routine check on a vehicle near Flat Water Park, and learned that its registration had expired.
The vehicle was stopped, and the driver — a 43-year-old Springdale man — was unable to provide police with his physical driver’s licence. Further checks confirmed that his licence had previously been suspended. In addition, the driver confirmed that he did not have a valid registration or insurance policy for the vehicle.
The vehicle was seized by police and impounded, and the driver was issued three summary offence tickets under the Highway Traffic Act for driving while suspended, operating an unregistered vehicle and operating a vehicle without insurance.
Everyday, RCMP officers are patrolling roadways across Newfoundland and Labrador looking for impaired drivers, checking for seatbelts and ensuring vehicles and drivers are operating safely and with the appropriate documentation. Motorists are reminded to slow down, drive sober and ensure that your licence, registration and insurance are always up to date.
