Ferryland RCMP makes arrest, charges man in connection to break, enter and assault

RCMP in Ferryland arrested a 52-year-old Bay Bulls man on Thursday in relation to residential break and enter at a home in the town of Witless Bay, back in May 2026. Thomas Joseph O’Driscoll now faces a number of Criminal Code charges and was held in police custody to appear in provincial court.

A short time after 8:00 p.m. on May 6, Ferryland and Holyrood RCMP responded to a break and enter at a residence in Witless Bay. As many as two suspects gained entry inside the home and were confronted by occupants inside when attempts were made to remove property from inside.

An altercation ensued and both suspects fled the scene prior to police arrival. Police conducted an investigation and a suspect was located and arrested on September 24 during a traffic stop along Route 13, the Witless Bay Line.

Thomas O’Driscoll, 52, has been charged with breaking and entering a residence to commit an indictable offence, assault and mischief causing damage to property under $5,000.00.

O’Driscoll was held in custody to appear in St. John’s Provincial Court on Friday.

The investigation is continuing and additional arrests and charges are possible.
