Forteau RCMP arrested a man Thursday night after officers responded to a report of dangerous driving, and discovered that the driver was also impaired.
Just before 9:00 p.m. on July 9, police received a report that a man was driving in the community of L'Anse-au-Loup, despite having a suspended licence. Officers patrolled the area and located and stopped the described vehicle. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle.
The 26-year-old man was transported to the Forteau detachment, where he provided breath samples that were more three times the legal limit.
The man was released from police custody and will appear in court in October 13 2026 to answer to charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle and impaired operation over 80%mg.
His vehicle was seized and impounded.
Impaired drivers place themselves and all others who share the roadway at increased and unacceptable risk of serious injury or death. If you see a driver operating dangerously, or suspect a driver is operating a vehicle while impaired, please call 911.
