Bonavista RCMP ticketed a novice driver and impounded his vehicle after he was caught driving without insurance or registration in Catalina last night.
On June 25, shortly after 9:30 p.m., Bonavista RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle travelling near Route 230 without its headlights on. Police located the vehicle and determined the 18-year-old driver, who held a Class 5 Level 1 (Novice Driver) licence, was not accompanied by an experienced, licenced driver as required.
The vehicle was seized and impounded and two tickets were issued under the Highway Traffic Act for operating an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.
RCMP Newfoundland and Labrador reminds all drivers that you must hold the appropriate licence for the vehicle you are operating and that you must comply with all licence conditions and restrictions. Driving without proper licence, registration, insurance or in violation of licence restrictions can result in tickets, fines, vehicle impoundment and charges.
