RCMP arrests four youths following threats

Four youths have been arrested for making threats at a school in Caraquet, N.B. 

On September 15, 2026, at approximately 11:20 p.m., members of the Caraquet RCMP received information regarding threats between a group of youths and began in investigation.

Additional information was obtained the night of September 16, 2026, from members of the public and police determined that the threats were believed to be serious and credible. 

One youth was arrested without incident shortly before midnight on September 16, 2026, and the three additional youths were arrested on September 17, 2026, in connection with the investigation. 

All four individuals were later released on conditions and will appear in court at a later date. They cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

"The RCMP takes threats to the safety of our communities very seriously," said Sgt. Sylvain Bergeron with the Caraquet RCMP. "We will not tolerate violent threats or statements of any kind, and those who make them may face criminal charges involving significant sentences."

Police were in contact with the school throughout the investigation to ensure the safety of all individuals involved.
