On November 4, 2026, at approximately 4 :30 p.m., Grand Rapids RCMP had been receiving multiple complaints about a semi-truck transporting heavy equipment on a flatbed trailer that was swerving between lanes and entering the path of oncoming traffic on highway 6.

Police began patrols and soon after located a semi-truck matching the description about 3km north of Grand Rapids. Officers also observed the semi swerving and immediately initiated a traffic stop.

The male driver was asked to provide his driver’s license and could not do so. When he exited the truck, open alcohol was observed in plain view inside.

The 31-year-old male was arrested for operation while impaired and transported to the detachment where a breath sample was taken, which he failed twice. An additional charge of operation while equal to or exceeds 80mg% was laid.

He was later released on an appearance notice.

Grand Rapids RCMP appreciate the timely calls from concerned motorists as they were able to locate the semi quickly and apprehend the driver.
