Churchill RCMP respond to assault, arrest male

On August 15, 2026, at approximately 9:15 pm, Churchill RCMP received a report of an assault that was in progress on Kelsey Boulevard.
Officers immediately responded and arrived to find a male victim that was unconscious outside a residence with what appeared to be serious injuries.
Police were advised the male suspect was still on scene, and officers were able to arrest him without incident.
The victim, a 63-year-old male, was treated by EMS and taken to Churchill hospital where he was later transported to hospital in Winnipeg where he remains in stable condition.
The victim and suspect were known to each other.
Robbie Saunders, 41, of Churchill, has released on an undertaking and charged with Assault causing bodily harm.
Churchill RCMP continue to investigate.
