Swan River RCMP make arrest after female gives officer fake name

On June 17, at approximately 6 p.m., Swan River RCMP initiated a traffic stop on the driver of an SUV that had an expired temporary plate.

The stop occurred near the intersection of Main Street and 5^th Avenue North, in Swan River. The driver told RCMP she did not have a driver’s license with her and gave her name. After some checking, RCMP learned the driver actually had a different name and that there was a warrant of arrest out for her after missing a court date.

The driver was arrested without incident.

A 30-year-old Swan River female faces charges of:

• Obstructing a police officer; and
• Failure to comply with an undertaking.

She was held in custody overnight, pending a court appearance on Thursday.
