Three charged after drugs, loaded rifle found during traffic stop on Ebb and Flow First Nation

On June 2, at approximately 7:45 p.m., Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP initiated a traffic stop on Central Road on the Ebb and Flow First Nation.
The driver did not have a valid licence and one of the two male passengers was not wearing a seatbelt. Further investigation prompted a search of the vehicle, which uncovered a loaded long rifle underneath the back seat. A fanny pack was also found containing 40 grams of suspected cocaine and 36 grams of suspected methamphetamine. Nearly $1,600 in cash was also seized.
Joseph Demerais, 48, of Sandy Bay First Nation and Marcus Thompson, a 23-year-old from Brandon, are charged with:
- Drug possession for the purpose of trafficking x2;
- Weapons possession contrary to order;
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon without a licence;
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm; and
- Failure to comply with release order condition.
Tanya Kourdi, 37, of Ebb and Flow First Nation is charged with:
- Drug possession for the purpose of trafficking x2;
- Possession of a restricted or prohibited weapon without a licence; and
- Unauthorized possession of a weapon.
All three were remanded into custody.
