The RCMP Indigenous Languages Program builds and strengthens relationships with Indigenous Communities and organizations, ensuring cultural agility remains central to its work. Through connections, it links employees with meaningful First Nations, Inuit and Métis language learning opportunities that are culturally informed and community based. The program supports both operational needs and efforts to reclaim, maintain and strengthen traditional languages.
Online language training connects employees with accessible Indigenous language learning opportunities. Through culturally grounded virtual-based instruction, employees build language skills while supporting the reclamation, maintenance and strengthening of Indigenous languages.
The Mentor–Apprentice Program supports the revitalization of Indigenous languages by fostering connections between fluent speakers and employees. Through immersive, one-on-one learning, apprentices build language skills grounded in culture, traditions and lived experience.
This flexible, community-informed approach supports the reclamation, maintenance and strengthening of Indigenous languages, while fostering cultural agility across the organization.
