Pedestrian in hospital after being struck by vehicle, police investigating

Prince George RCMP is currently investigating a motor vehicle incident that has left one pedestrian in the hospital in serious condition. 

The incident occurred on Sunday, August 9, 2026, just before 12:30 a.m. when a man was struck in northbound lane on the 1700-block of the Hart Highway. He is described as wearing a reddish coloured hoody and dark pants and was carrying a red backpack at the time of the incident.

The northbound lanes of the highway were closed for several hours with drivers being redirected down North Nechako Road as investigators analyzed the scene and spoke with witnesses

“We are currently looking to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed what occurred that evening or who may have dash camera footage of the incident or of the highway conditions immediately preceding the incident. You can contact a police officer by calling the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line at 250-561-3300,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for Prince George RCMP.

Police officers are also releasing photos of a truck believed to have been involved in the incident. It is described as an early 2000s Ford F150 Supercrew, that is a two-tone navy and grey with aftermarket running boards and oversized tires. If anyone knows where this truck is or who may have been driving it at the time of the incident, they are encouraged to contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line or to make an anonymous report through Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers. 

This investigation remains ongoing.
