The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP advises that the woman who was the subject of a police search in the Mount Tzouhalem and Maple Bay areas has been located.
On September 15, 2026, frontline officers located and arrested the woman in connection with an ongoing investigation.
Following her arrest, the woman was held in custody and appeared before the court. She was subsequently released on court-imposed conditions and is scheduled to return to court at a future date.
"The active search has concluded, and there is no ongoing risk to public safety related to this investigation," says Cst. Tessa McDonald, Media Relations Officer of North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP. "We would like to thank the public for their cooperation, patience and assistance throughout the search and investigation."
The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP would like to thank the RCMP Emergency Response Team, RCMP Air Services, RCMP Police Dog Services, and members of the public who provided information during the investigation.
As the matter is now before the courts, no further details will be released at this time.
