Nanaimo RCMP seek witnesses to assault

The Nanaimo RCMP is seeking witnesses to an assault that occurred at approximately 3 PM on Monday May 11, 2026, on Seventh St near the intersection of Douglas Ave.

Police were told that the victim, and adult man, was walking alone when for unknown reasons he was allegedly struck from behind by an unknown blunt object. The strike caused him to fall to the ground. The suspect, who was not known to the victim, allegedly produced a knife before fleeing on foot.

The victim received medical treatment for his injuries. Due to the incident, the victim’s memory was impacted and he was unable to provide a detailed description of the suspect. 

Nearby homes and businesses were canvassed for CCTV and doorbell camera footage; however, no relevant video evidence has been located at this time.

Investigators are asking anyone who was in the vicinity of Seventh St and Douglas Ave, between 2:45 pm and 3:15 PM, on May 11, 2026, and may have witnessed the incident or observed suspicious activity, to please come forward.
