This Detachment serves the Town of Ladysmith, a municipal community of approximately 9,500 residents as well as a large provincial area. The provincial jurisdiction includes approximately 6,500 residents living in the communities of North Oyster, Yellow Point, Cassidy, Saltair, Thetis Island, Penelakut Island and Stz’uminus First Nation. The Detachment area is also responsible for the Nanaimo Regional Airport and several marinas.
